We had a really great weekend. Lots of friends, wine, pool, and MUSIC. That's another thing you'll learn about me...I am a craft/homemade/from scratch doer, but we are also live music junkies in our house and we'll drive just about anywhere to see a good band.
First things first...I made a scarf into a vest and wore it on Friday and EVERYONE was asking about it! So, here's how I did it...(and the scarf is from Stella & Dot, of course...go to www.stelladot.com/tessabutterfield to purchase!)
1. First, I took the scarf and folded in half (lengthwise).

1. First, I took the scarf and folded in half (lengthwise).
2. Next, I tied the folded end and the open end together and made the smallest knot I could.
3. Then I took the open end of the scarf and separated the edges and opened it up.
Soooooooo, after I wore my scarf all day, I came home and we didn't really have any plans at all for the 4th and we could see about 3 fireworks shows from our backyard, so we just had a few friends come over (with their dogs, of course!!) and did what all good Americans do: ate ribs and pasta salad outside, took it easy watching the cows eat grass and America turn one year older. All in all, good 4th!
Saturday, we got to go meet up with one of my friends from high school and his fiance. He could not have picked a better lady, they are so perfect for each other. She's one of those people you swear you've known your whole life and you instantly want to be her best friend forever! So, we made our way to Fort Worth and got to go to dinner at Joe T. Garcia's and then we went to Billy Bob's to see Steve Earle :)
But, first, we went to see some bullriding...when in Rome, ya know?

And then we got to see the show!!! The Mastersons opened and they were so great. I met Chris (the husband) a few years back when he played with Jack Ingram, he was always really nice and he had JUST started dating Eleanor Whitmore (the now wife). I'm really happy to see that they are still together :) It gives me warm fuzzies. Their website, in case y'all need it, www.themastersonsmusic.com. Here they are.
Then, Steve took the stage :) And Chris and El stayed and played with Steve. One of my other long time friends met us there with his wife and another friend, I love my friends :) Steve's set list was all over the map, but I think that's to be expected. The show was great and went well into 1am (which is late for Billy Bob's.) He played a little bit of EVERYTHING. He played mostly singer-songwriter stuff, then switched it into high gear with some more rockish stuff, then ended with his bluegrass stuff. He did two encores (which was REALLY cool.) And even managed to play the popular crowd pleasers "Copperhead Road" and "Guitar Town". I would have liked to have heard my all-time favorite Steve Earle song "Sparkle and Shine", or "I Feel Alright", and "Transcendental Blues", but he didn't play those. But, as I've said before, I'll take Steve Earle however I can get it :) So, finally, I got to cross that off my bucket list and I had a great time!!!
After all of that, we decided to wind down the weekend and have BBQ and pool time on Sunday, so again, we had a few friends come over....and the wine was flowing freely. Haha. Great weekend.
