I have always loved crafting. I'll literally craft anything. I think it stems from my fascination with anything homemade/handcrafted...Or maybe it's the other way around...(which came first? the chicken or the egg?) So, just a head's up, this blog will contain lots of crafting. It won't be ALL crafting, but it'll definitely be sprinkled throughout.
So, this is what I made last week. It took me a few days to put my finishing touches on everything :)
So, this is what I made last week. It took me a few days to put my finishing touches on everything :)
My fantastic neighbors gave me two big ole milk cans for free!! They were throwing them out and immediately thought to text me and let me have them!! I'm telling you, best neighbors ever. So, this is the time to introduce you to one of my favorite mottos - "Paint changes everything!" I'm sure my husband is sick and tired of cleaning up paint spills and drop cloths, but I refuse to throw things away, I just paint everything instead. Perfect example, these mile cans. They were rusted and old and beat up, so I just painted them, glued numbers to them and tied a bow on the top. One of the other things I did last week was take my grandmother's old bed and painted it. Wish I had a before photo, but I don't. I'll start taking more before photos, promise! Anywho, here's the bed :)
There she is! (And there's one of fur babies! He just had to have his picture taken!) The bed originally was a cedar color with some sort of lacquer on it. Originally, I was going to sand it, but I'm impatient and it didn't seem like my sander was sanding through the lacquer very well, so eventually, I just painted over the lacquer. This bed isn't going to be heavily used, since it's a guest bed, so I figured it'd be ok. I'm still trying to decide whether I should antique it or not....
I also made these guys. I don't know what to call them....modern...vintage...idk. But they are super cute and fit perfectly in my kitchen. I just took square canvases, 8X8 or 10X10, something like that. Covered all of the sides with random papers and mod podge. Then, I used mod podge over the paper to act as a sealant. I found the longhorn and cow in the childrens hobby section at hobby lobby and I spray painted them and then just hot glued them on the paper. I love these!!! And so easy to make! And last, but not least, I made my very first burlap wreath. I'm sure the burlap wreath pros out there probably could have done a better job, but I think it came out ok for my first time! Here it is...
And that's all I have for today! Happy Monday! I'll keep y'all updated as to what I get into in the next week or so!
